THE BEAUMONT HOTEL
An independent Victorian townhouse hotel in the centre of Hexham, overlooking the Abbey. The restaurant serves an ever-changing seasonal menu of local produce, and it’s our favourite spot for Sunday lunch.
BOUCHON BISTROT
Tucked just off the Market Place on Gilesgate, Bouchon serves authentic country-style French cooking with daily specials. Owner Gregory comes from a Loire Valley family of restaurateurs and trained in Michelin-starred kitchens across France.
THE GARDEN
A little corner of calm on Hallgate, just down from the Old Gaol. Known for legendary toasties with the most amazing cheese pull, freshly made breakfast bagels and the kind of atmosphere that makes you linger over a second latte.
FRENCH & WILDER
French-style décor, homeware, fashion and gifts on Hexham’s Market Place. They champion locally made pieces, supporting the creative community that makes the town such a joy to explore.

The space also serves as James’ studio so you will often catch him at the easel, working on his latest piece. The aim of his work is to evoke a sense of simplicity and calm — minimal compositions that invite you to pause and mindfully reflect on the beauty of the everyday world.
